Meat upma ( Erachi upma ) Cracked Wheat & Meat Mince ( 1 pot meal )

 

Cracked Wheat & Meat Mince ( 1 pot meal ) / Toddler Friendly Family Meal / Cracked Wheat Kheema /

This is an easy 1 pot meal for an entire family ( toddler, kids & family ! ) ..


Ingredients
: ( For Cracked Wheat & Meat mince 1potmeal)

500 gms / 1 lb – Meat mince ( lamb/chicken )
1 Onion – chopped
2 tomatoes – chopped
2 tsp – ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp – coriander leaves or parsely ( chopped )
salt to taste
1 Tbsp – oil
1 Cup – Cracked Wheat ( coarse ) ( also known as – dhalia / fada / bulgar / samba rava )
2 Cups – Water

Spice powders:
1/2 tsp – turmeric powder
1 tsp – chilli powder
1/2 tsp – cumin powder
2 tsp – coriander powder
2.5 tsp – fennel powder
1/4 tsp – pepper powder

Method:

Step 1) Get ready with all the ingredients..

Step 2) Heat a big heavy pan and pour 1 tbsp oil..

Step 3) Add the chopped onion and saute until soft..

Step 4) Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 30 seconds..

Step 5) Add the tomato and cook for 3 minutes on medium-heat..

Step 6) Add the meat mince, spice powders, salt and mix on medium-high heat for 3 minutes..

Step 7) Add half of the chopped coriander leaves, mix, cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes..

Step 8) Pour 2 Cups of water, add coriander leaves and bring it to a boil .. ( Check salt and add if needed )

Step 9) When it boils, add the cracked wheat / dhalia / bulgar. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes..

Step 10) Turn off and let it sit for 8 minutes ( covered )..

Now you can go ahead and serve.. Slowly fluff the meal and then serve ..

To Serve your toddler: Place a cup of meal in a bowl, let it cool down ( to slightly warm ) and then serve..
