5 Pasta Recipes (Indian-style) kids-friendly family meal

 





Recipe #1 – Egg Macaroni

Ingredients: ( for #1 – egg macaroni )
1 – onion ( chopped )
1 – bellpepper / capsicum (chopped)
1 cup – cheese shreds (cheddar or mixed cheese )
4 – eggs ( beaten )
1 tbsp – oil, .. salt – to taste
Spice powders: ( 1/4 tsp – turmeric powder,
1/4 tsp – pepper powder
1 tsp – coriander powder )
To cook macaroni (pasta):
1 cup – macaroni (pasta)
5 cups – water (to boil)
1 tsp – salt

Method:
Step 1) Into a big saucepan, pour the water and let it boil..
Step 2) When the water boils, add salt, macaroni and cook until soft ( takes 10 – 12 minutes ) ..
Step 3) Heat another pan, and pour a tbsp of oil ..
Step 4) Add the onion and cook until soft..
Step 5) Add the bellpepper and cook for 2 minutes..
Step 6) Add spice powders : (1/4 tsp – turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp – pepper powder, 1 tsp coriander powder ) and mix  ..
Step 7) Pour beaten eggs, salt and scramble for 4 minutes ….
Step 8) Drain the macaroni, add to the egg pan and gently mix for 2 minutes ( on low heat ) ..
Step 9) Add a cup of cheese shreds and gently mix on low-heat for 1 minute and TURN OFF the heat ..

Egg macaroni is ready ! .. Serve warm 🙂 ..

For 2+ Toddlers: Cut the macaroni into small pieces if needed and serve your little ones ..

Recipe #2 – Veg Risoni Pasta

Ingredients:
( for #2 – Veg risoni pasta)
1 cup – vegetables (chopped) (carrot,beans,peas,corn)
1 – tomato (pureed or blended)
1 tbsp – tomato sauce
1 – garlic ( finely chopped )
1 tbsp – oil
salt – to taste
1/2 tsp – pepper powder
( optional: spice powders: ( 1/4 tsp – turmeric powder,
1 tsp – coriander powder )To cook risoni (pasta):
1 cup – risoni or orzo (pasta)
5 cups – water (to boil)
1 tsp – salt

Method:
Step 1) Bring the water to a boil, add salt, risoni pasta and cook until soft ( takes 10 – 12 minutes) ..
Step 2) Heat another pan and pour 1 tbsp of oil ..
Step 3) Add the chopped garlic and cook for 20 seconds ..
Step 4) Add the chopped vegetables and cook for 5 mintues on medium-heat ..
Step 5) Add salt, pepper ( and other spices you like) and cook for 1 minute ..
Step 6) Add the tomato puree and boil for 3 minutes on high heat ..
Step 7) Drain the pasta, add into the veg pan and mix for 1 minute ..
Step 8) Add a tbsp of tomato sauce in the end, mix and TURN OFF the heat ..
Risoni Veg pasta is ready ..

To Serve your 2+ toddlers, place a cup of veg pasta in a bowl and serve ( or feed )  ..


Recipe #3 – Chicken Penne Pasta

Ingredients:
( for #3 – Chicken penne pasta)
1 cup – brinjal or zucchini (sliced into 1″ pieces)
1 cup – bellpepper / capsicum (cut into 1″ pieces)
1 – tomato (pureed or blended)
1 – onion (sliced)
1 – garlic ( finely chopped )
2 tbsp – oil
optional -> 1/2 cup – parmesan cheese
To marinate chicken:
2 – boneless chicken breast ( cut into 1″ pieces )
( 1/2 tsp – turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp – chilli powder, 1/4 tsp – pepper,
2 tsp – coriander powder, 1/2 tsp – cumin powder, 1 tsp – salt)
To cook penne (pasta):
1 cup – penne (pasta) or (you can also use macaroni)
6 cups – water (to boil) …
1 tsp – salt

Method:
Step 1) Marinate the chicken pieces with salt and (spice powders – turmeric,chilli,pepper, coriander, cumin)..
Step 2) Boil the water, add salt, penne pasta and cook until the pasta becomes soft ( takes 10-12 minutes )..
Step 3) Heat another pan and pour 2 tbsp of oil ..
Step 4) Add onion, garlic and cook for 2 minutes ..
Step 5) Add the marinated chicken and cook for 10 minutes on medium-heat ..
Step 6) Add the bellpepper, brinjal (or zucchini) and cook for 4 minutes on medium-heat ..
Step 7) Add salt, tomato puree and cook for 5 minutes on medium heat ..
Step 8) Drain the pasta, add to the chicken pan and mix together for 1 minute..
Step 9) Finally, add the parmesan cheese, scatter on top and TURN OFF the heat ..
Chicken Penne Pasta is ready ! ..

To Serve your 2+ toddlers, place a cup of chicken pasta in a bowl and serve ( or feed )..


Recipe #4 – Creamy Veg white-sauce pasta

Ingredients:
( for #4 Creamy veg white-sauce pasta )
1 cup – vegetables (chopped) (carrot,beans,bellpepper,broccoli)
1/4 cup – spring onion/green onion ( finely chopped )
1 tbsp – oil, … salt – to taste
( spice powders: ( 1/4 tsp – turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp – pepper )
To cook (pasta):
1 cup – penne pasta
6 cups – water (to boil)
1 tsp – salt
For the white sauce:
2 tbsp – butter (unsalted cooking butter )
1 tbsp – flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup – cheese (shreds)

Method:
Step 1) Boil the water, add salt, penne pasta and cook until the pasta becomes soft ( takes 10-12 minutes )..
Step 2) Heat a saucepan and melt 2 tbsp of butter ..
Step 3) Once the butter is melted, add a tbsp of flour and quickly stir for 15 seconds (on low heat) until creamy..
Step 4) Pour little milk and stir into a creamy mixture..
Step 5) Now add the remaining milk, .. keep stirring and let it heat until steamy.. ( not boiling ) ..
Step 6) Once it becomes hot, add the cheese, mix and TURN OFF the heat .. ( remove from heat ) ..
Step 7) Heat another pan and pour a tbsp of oil ..
Step 8) Add the spring onion and cook for 2 mintues ..
Step 9) Add the vegetables and cook for 10 minutes on medium-heat ..
Step 10) Add salt and spices ( turmeric powder, pepper, optional – 1 tsp coriander ) mix for 1 minute ..
Step 11) Drain the pasta, add into the vegetable pan and mix for 2 minutes ..
Step 12) Pour the prepared white sauce (cheese sauce) and gently mix .. and TURN OFF the heat ..
Creamy Veg pasta is ready ..

If your little one prefers small pieces, cut the pasta and vegetables into small pieces and serve ..


Recipe #5 – Kheema (meat-mince) pasta

Ingredients:
( for #5 – Kheema (meat-mince) pasta)
500gms – meat mince
2 – tomato (chopped)
2 – Onion (chopped)
1 tbsp – ginger-garlic paste
1 cup – green peas
2 tbsp – coriander leaves ( chopped)
1 tbsp – oil
salt – to taste
spice powders: ( 1/2 tsp – turmeric powder, 1 tsp – chilli powder,
2 tsp – fennel powder, 1 tsp – coriander powder
1/2 tsp – cumin powder, 1/2 tsp – pepper )
To cook risoni (pasta):
1 cup – risoni / orzo (pasta) (you can also use macaroni)
5 cups – water (to boil)
1 tsp – salt

Method:
Step 1) Boil the water .. add salt, pasta and cook for 10 – 12 minutes ( or until soft ) ..
Step 2) Heat another pan and pour a tbsp of oil ..
Step 3) Add the onion and cook until light brown ..
Step 4) Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute ..
Step 5) Add the tomato and cook until soft ..
Step 6) Add the spice powders ( turmeric, chilli, fennel, coriander, cumin, pepper ) and mix for 1 minute..
Step 7) Add the meat mince and cook on high heat for 3 minutes ..
Step 8) Add the peas and mix. Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes ..
Step 9) After 15 minutes, check salt and add if needed.
Step 10) Drain the pasta and add into the meat pan. Mix for 2 minutes on low heat ..
Step 11) Add the coriander leaves, mix and TURN OFF ..

Kheema (mince) pasta is ready ..Let it sit for 5 minutes before serving ..

To Serve 2+ Toddlers: Place a cup of meat pasta in a bowl and serve ( or feed ) ..
